Walker Police arrested a man Tuesday night after a home invasion in the 12900 block of Browden Street.
Police were called to the home around 7 p.m. When they arrived, officers found 24-year-old Demarcus Ross of Zachary being held by the homeowner and a neighbor.
Walker Police believe Ross broke into the home with the intention to rob the homeowner, but Ross was confronted by the homeowner in the hallway. Ross told police he had a .22 caliber handgun when he went into the house.
The homeowner and Ross struggled inside the home and the gun was fired twice, one of the shots hitting Ross in the forearm. The homeowner was also hurt after being hit in the head with the gun.
Police say the struggle spilled out into the yard where the neighbor came to help.
Ross was treated by Acadian Ambulance for a superficial gunshot wound at the Walker Police Department. The homeowner's injuries were also listed as not serious.
"During questioning, Mr. Ross admitted that he entered the Browden Street residence, armed with a handgun, with robbery as his motive," said Captain Sharp. "He also told Officers that the robbery was suggested by someone acquainted with the homeowner. We are pursuing that possibility and additional arrests are possible."
Ross was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on charges of aggravated burglary of an inhabited dwelling and aggravated battery, where he remains, with bond set at $70,000. Walker Police are continuing to investigate this incident and additional charges are possible.
