GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -
A Gulfport man was arrested Sunday accused of felony child abuse, according to Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania.
Papania said 25-year-old Nicholas Thomas Flore's arrest comes after a family member complained about the 5-year-old victim. Papania said that victim sustained severe injuries believed to be caused by Flore.
The Department of Human Resources took the child and another sibling from their home, pending further investigation.
Flore is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $100,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner.
Gulfport police said Flore was not the father of the two children, instead he was their mother's acquaintance.
