BIRMINGHAM, AL (WLOX) - Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport has now re-opened after a threat of a suspicious package closed the airport for more than 2 hours, according to WLOX sister station WAFF.
WAFF reports police confirmed a note was left in a bathroom threatening that an explosive device was deployed inside the terminal. As of 6:10 p.m. Aviation Avenue was re-opened and employees were let back into the facility. Police have not identified who left the threatening note.
A bomb threat is what airport officials said caused the closure.
