D'Iberville woman quits job and pursues her hobby

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

Kim Gaughf learned at a young age how to crochet from her mother and grandmother, but never in a million years did she think her hobby would turn into her lively hood.

"It kind of seems surreal," Gaughf said. "The end of this year will be one year of keeping busy of it and being successful at it and it still blows my mind."

She started out crocheting blankets. Two years ago, a friend asked me to make a hat for her dad who had cancer. She looked up a pattern and I gave it a shot.

"As soon as people saw me make that hat I was asked again and again and again. So then of course I'm going to sell it," Gaughf said.

Gaughf came up with the name ZuLolly after her pets, Zoe and Lacey Lu. She then made a Facebook page, and began selling her hats.

Now ZuLolly gifts are sold at Paper Moon in Biloxi, Lizzy Jo's Children's Boutique in Ocean Springs, Marina Cottage Soap Company in Ocean Springs and In the Company of Angels in Fairhope, Alabama.

"It's a great feeling like a proud parent," Gaughf said. "It feels really good that people appreciate the talent I have."

As for the future, she hopes to continue making a living doing what she loves.

"I am customer service, I am production, I am quality control and I am shipping. I'm a one person business, so as fast as I can crochet, that's as fast as I want to go," Gaughf said.

You can also find Gaughf's items on her Facebook page or web site https://www.facebook.com/ZuLollyGifts#!/ZuLollyGifts or http://zulollygifts.com/ .
