POPLARVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Did someone really want to "shoot up" Poplarville High School? That was the rumor that spread quickly on social media Monday.
Poplarville Police Chief Charlie Fazende told WLOX News his department and the county sheriff's department investigated a tip about a student that was going to "shoot up a school." Thankfully, that comment was not a real credible threat. But that didn't stop the rumors from spreading on Facebook.
As a safety measure, all four school in Poplarville were checked out by law enforcement and the high school was put on "alert." But none of the schools were put on lockdown.
