GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A high speed police chase that started in Biloxi and ended in Gulfport Monday morning led to three people being arrested. The arrests were made just minutes before 11am in the parking lot of the Waffle House at the intersection of Landon Road and Highway 49.
Biloxi Police told WLOX News the chase began at Pass and DeBuys Road after Biloxi firefighters noticed a driver at a stoplight who appeared to be sleeping or passed out. The firefighters put blocks around the car's tires and called police. When police arrived, the driver woke up and sped off.
Officers chased the red Monte Carlo up Cowan Lorraine Road on to I-10 and then Highway 49. Police said they reached speeds topping 100 miles an hour.
Police said it appeared the driver was intoxicated, but the exact charges haven't been released. Two passengers in the car were also arrested. No one was hurt the chase.
