TONEY, AL (WAFF) -

A fire severely damaged a mobile home in Toney Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a fire on Morris Lane around 9:30 a.m.

Multiple fire crews, including those from Toney Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Bobo Volunteer Fire Department and Hazel Green Fire/Rescue, worked to put out the flames, which were visible from the outside. The structure, however, was a total loss.

Toney Fire and Rescue sent two engines, rescue and medical units. Toney firefighters said they had to use more engines than normal in order to get enough water on the fire; firefighters said the hydrants were in a long layout, and units had to shuttle water to the lead Toney engine.

Toney firefighters put the fire out within fifteen minutes, but it took about an hour to get hot spots and the overall scene completely out.

Firefighters said no one was home at the time. HEMSI was on the scene for standby.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire. Red Cross is assisting with family displacement.
