BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A warning for boaters in the area of the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge: There's a line of debris near the channel that could be dangerous.
A spokesperson for the Department of Marine Resources told WLOX News the agency was first alerted of the debris last month. But Friday they discovered the area was larger than first thought and close to the channel.
That's when DMR Marine Patrol officers marked the area off with PVC pipe and reflective tape.
Monday, they hope to use SONAR to determine how much debris is out there. It appears to be concrete and rebar from the old bridge destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
The debris, on the north side of the bridge, is easy to see in low tide, but more difficult in high tide.
