Police chase may be connected to armed robbery

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A police pursuit through two cities came to an end with a car crash in Gulfport Thursday afternoon.

According to authorities, Biloxi Police spotted a vehicle matching the description of one used in an armed robbery of a check cashing place in Gulfport a few hours earlier. Biloxi officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver took off.

Authorities followed the car into Gulfport where officers from that city joined in the pursuit. The chase came to an end with a crash at the intersection of Lorraine Road and Interstate 10.

One person was taken into custody and faces charges related to the high-speed chase. Investigators are still working to determine if that driver is connected with the armed robbery earlier in Biloxi.
