Chili cook-off benefits Girl Scouts

Posted: Updated:
BYRAM, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

As the weather gets cooler, it's a great time for a good bowl of chili, and plenty should be available November 2 at the First Annual Chili/Salsa Cook-Off.

The event is a fundraiser that Byram Girl Scout Troop 5841 is holding at Davis Road Park. Whitney Miller, the winner of Fox television's Masterchef in season 1, will be one of the judges.

Troop 5841 is raising money for improvements at the Davis Road Park. It's the only park in the Byram area where children can play, and the playground equipment is broken, no doors on the bathroom stalls and many other things that need to be fixed.

The event will also feature craft booths, a bake sale, and lots of fun and games. Things get underway at 11 a.m. and run until 4:30 p.m.
