Bus stop accident sends teen to the hospital

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

A Pascagoula teen was taken to the hospital after a minor accident at a bus stop Tuesday morning. It happened around 7:41am at the corner of Lanier Ave. and Glacier St.

The driver who struck the teen told police the girl was standing with a group of students at the bus stop. As a school bus drove past him, he moved closer to the center line in an attempt to go around the group of kids. That's when the driver said one of the kids had her back towards the street and she backed into his passenger side mirror as he was passing her.

The 15-year-old girl was taken to Singing River Hospital by ambulance. Investigators said there didn't appear to be any serious injuries.
