No suspects in Jefferson County Murder

FAYETTE, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is investigating two shootings one of which was fatal which occurred late Sunday and early Monday morning. Ironically the shooting victims were first cousins.

The first shooting happened Sunday evening at the Fayette High School football field, where investigators say Kiwaski Tenner was shot in the back during an argument.

18 Year Old Terrance White turned himself in to the sheriff's department, and was charged with aggravated assault and firing a weapon on a school campus. Tenner was hospitalized at University Medical Center, but was later released.

Just seven hours later, Tenner's cousin Terry Tenner junior died in a shooting. He was found by police slumped over the wheel of his truck on highway 28. Police found a gun in the vehicle, but aren't saying if that was the murder weapon.

Sheriff Peter Walker says, "No suspects at this time however were constantly investigating, trying to determine the actual cause, the cause and maybe what happened.  Its strange an incident of this nature occurs two people in the same family, one shot in the same evening hours apart that's very strange."

Although the shooting victims were related, Sheriff Peter Walker says there's no indication that these two cases are connected.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 601-786-0008.
