I-55 reopened after 18-wheeler accident

GLUCKSTADT, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

I-55 southbound, at the Gluckstadt exit, reopened around lunch time. A portion of the interstate was shut down because of an 18-wheeler wreck that happened around 3 this morning.

It overturned in the southbound lane of I-55, south of the Gluckstadt exit. Authorities had to shutdown the interstate while crews tried to clear the scene.

The highway patrol says the driver of the 18 wheeler, Michael Peden, over compensated and the truck overturned. Peden suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Hinds County inmates unloaded the meat and produce in the truck that was being delivered to Walmart, before the trailer was removed from the interstate.
