Garden Park Medical Center celebrates 40 years on MS Gulf Coast

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport celebrated its 40th anniversary on the Mississippi Coast on Saturday.

During the hospital's celebration and fall festival, organizers said they couldn't think of a better way to commemorate the special occasion then to invite the community to a day of fun-filled activities for the entire family.

There was a barbeque contest, arts and crafts fair, and health screenings.

"Well our overall quality is above and beyond the other facilities in the community. We get outstanding scores on our quality. So our outcomes are very good. And so I'm very proud of the entire medical and nursing staff for what they do on a daily basis," Garden Park Medical Center CEO Brenda Waltz said.

"We did the throw and then we did the golf right here. And we went and bounced for a while. It was really cool," said attendee Ivan Harris who came with his mom and younger brother.

Officials said the hospital's emergency department alone is very busy seeing more than 3,500 patients each month.
