JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson chef wins the premiere of a reality cooking show on Food Network and thousands of dollars.

More than 50 people huddled inside Hal and Mal's on Sunday night to cheer on Tom Ramsey.

He competed on "Guy's Grocery Games with three other top chefs.

In the episode, Ramsey and the other contestants were assigned to make several meals, but had to overcome several challenges.

The Jackson chef cooked some of the meals he made on the show for supporters at Hal and Mal's.

Ramsey, a former investment banker, says he's grateful for the support from the community.

"Jackson is a great town, you know. Jackson is one of those places where we all support each other. It's a small community. It's family. I'm thrilled to see all these people here," said Ramsey.

The grand prize for winning the show was $16,000.

Ramsey's new restaurant, La Finestra, will open November 3rd in downtown Jackson.
