Car crashes; one person trapped underneath

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police and firefighters responded to a crash and ejection on Rickay Drive just before 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

We were told by witnesses two people were thrown from a black Ford Expedition.

Witnesses said one person was trapped beneath the vehicle when it crashed into a ditch.

One woman at the scene said neighbors used a jack to try to raise the SUV to free a man before emergency responders arrived.

Firefighters could be seen removing a rear wheel to free the victim. A motorist said she was nearly hit by the speeding SUV.

"I kinda had to yield to the side of the road, merge over to allow him to get by and probably seconds after I did so the vehicle actually lost control," said witness Shameka Foxx.

Two people were transported by ambulance. Their names and conditions are not known at this time.
