St. Stanislaus biggest surprise high school football team on the coast

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) -

St. Stanislaus head coach Gabe Ferttita has his Rockachaws clicking on all cylinders, offense, defense and special teams.

Unbeaten St. Stanislaus has reeled off 7 consecutive victories, 2 and 0 in the Region 8-4A ranks.

Offense and more offense has been the name of the game with two seniors leading the way.

St. Stanislaus is piling up 46 points per game using the talents of senior quarterback Tyler Allen.

After 7 games Allen has passed for 25-hundred-19 yards, 30 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Allen can also use his feet to find the end zone. He has 373 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns.

So what's been the biggest factor in winning this season and failing to win last season?

"Definitely all the hard work we've put in all off-season and during the winter and in the summer, everyday, " Allen said. "Myself and the receivers have been out there just throwing constantly, getting our chemistry and just working hard."

Allen's number one receiver is another senior, Brennan Bradley. He's hauled in 55 passes for just over a thousand yards and 10 touchdowns.

Bradley says coach Ferttita has the Rockachaws thinking positive.

"I think just the attitude in the locker room really," stated Bradley. "Last year we only had 5 seniors, this year we have 13. A lot of seniors have proven leadership during the summer and this year it's really showing."

Bill Conides is the Rockachaws offensive coordinator and he has taken the time in practice to fine tune the quarterbacks mechanics.

Tyler Allen says coach Conides has turned up the heat on defensive teams.

Allen said,"He has really turned our offense around. We've picked up the offense and his offensive mind and all the plays we run are really tearing defenses apart."@

St. Stanislaus is vying for the Region 8-4A title and have come a long way from a football team that failed to post a game under the win column in 2012.

The Rockachaws face their stiffest challenge to date, a road game at 6 & 1 Poplarville.  The Hornets are tied with St. Stanislaus atop the Region 8-4A standings.  The St. Stanisalus-Poplarville confrontation will be one of the featured games on the Friday Night Football Showdown Friday night at 10:35 on WLOX-ABC.
