Barbour Co. authorities working second homicide in a week

BARBOUR CO., AL (WSFA) -

The Barbour County Sheriff's Department is investigating the second homicide in a week after finding a body in a house fire. The discovery was made Sunday night.

Authorities tell WSFA 12 News that Noah Bunnell, 24, was arrested in connection to the shooting death of his step mother, 53-year-old Jacqueline Bunnell.

Bunnell was taken into custody in Phenix City and charged with capital murder and arson.

The homicide happened at the residence located at 3114 Highway 30 just outside Clayton.

Investigators took Noah Bunnell, 24, into custody. He's accused of shooting to death 53-year-old Jacqueline Bunnell before setting the residence on fire.

No further details are currently available about the Bunnell homicide, but WSFA 12 News is working to confirm additional facts.

The Sheriff's Department is working its second, homicide in a week. Last Friday morning, the body of a 71-year-old woman was found inside her home in what appears to be a robbery. The two cases are not connected.

    A man accused of killing his girlfriend's 7-month-old son made his first court appearance Thursday. Michael Harris, 27, was charged with capital murder Thursday after Tanner Cowart died at USA Medical Center in Mobile.
