Broken Gas Line Shuts Down Traffic

If you were on Highway 90 in Biloxi Wednesday afternoon, you probably got stuck in some heavy traffic. Traffic had to be re-routed after a construction crew for Seabreeze condo punctured a gas line for a neighboring building.

Officials shut down Highway 90 from Camellia to Veterans while crews worked to repair the leak.

The leaks have been plugged and traffic is moving again. Officials said they shut down traffic in the area as a safety precaution.

"The wind report that we were given is out of the Southwest," said Biloxi firefighter Kerry Borden. "As a precaution to keep the fumes and the cars driving through in through the gas, from having any chance of igniting the fumes, we stopped and rerouted the traffic around it. It's dissipating real quick."
