New: Record crowds cruise across the coast

Posted: Updated:
BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Let the cruising begin.  Today, classic cruisers roll from city to city, showing off their vintage vehicles.  Cruisin the Coast has venues in Ocean Springs, Biloxi, D'Iberville, Gulfport, Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis.

Between now and Sunday, just about every car owner registered for the classic car showcase will make at least one appearance in each city.  And when they get there, they'll be entertained by some of South Mississippi's best musicians.

Registration for Cruisin the Coast has toped the 6,200 mark.  And that's an all-time record.  That means there will likely be heavy traffic on key South Mississippi roads, especially along Highway 90.  If necessary, police are prepared to block turn lanes to keep traffic moving.

If you'd like to check out the entertainment schedule for today, click here.  You'll be taken to the Cruisin the Coast website.

WLOX News and WLOX.com will showcase some of the classic cars in town for the annual party.  Look for those stories throughout the day on TV and on line.  Don't forget, if you have pictures from Cruisin the Coast you'd like to share, send them to us at pics@wlox.com.
