PICAYUNE, MS (WLOX) -

A Picayune man is dead following a fatal crash in Louisiana Saturday around 8 p.m., according to Louisiana state police.

Officials said 77-year-old John McKean was traveling northbound on I-59 just three miles north of Hwy 11 and LA 1090 exit in St. Tammany Parish.

According to Louisiana state police Sgt. Nick Manale, McKean was driving 1998 Ford pickup. He reportedly drifted into the left northbound lane and overcorrected to the right causing the truck to rotate in a clockwise direction. Then the truck ran off the road to the right. Once the truck left the interstate, the Ford pickup continued off road hitting a fence, overturning then crashing into a tree.

Manale said McKean was wearing a seatbelt. Authorities don't believe alcohol was a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
