D'Iberville quarterback Jo Jo Warrick is coming off a big win, helping lead the Warriors past arch-rival Biloxi 42 to 14.
The 6-foot, 190 pound senior completed 4 of 5 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown.
Warrick broke loose on a 29 yard touchdown gallop and totaled 143 yards rushing on the night as D'Iberville dominated the Indians.
Thanks to his efforts... Jo Jo Warrick is this week's WLOX Player of the Week.
He said beating Biloxi is special.
Warrick said,"It means a lot to our community. We put a lot of work in throughout the weeks and for our community to come and support us we try to put on a good show for them."
"He's a two-year starter," stated head coach Buddy Singleton. "I can't say enough about him. He runs our offense and I think the kids believe in him and he's had a great year for us."
Coach Singleton relies mostly on the running game, but he does throw the football and when he does, those passing plays normally turn into big plays, like an 83-yard flea flicker against the Indians on Friday.
Warrick said,"My coaches have helped me a good bit. I'm pretty fast and when I get a chance to pass I've got to make it count."
Warrick runs a 4.58 forty yard dash, excellent speed that enables the senior quarterback to break free racing deep into the opponents territory or into the end zone.
Warrick says he looks up to Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. In many ways, Warrick resembles the Aggies game breaking quarterback.
D'Iberville entertains Ocean Springs Friday night at 7. Both teams are 4 and 1 overall, 1-0 in the Region 4-6A standings. The Greyhounds-Warriors clash will be one of six games featured on the Friday Night Football Showdown on WLOX-ABC.
