Shutdown effects MS federal employees

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

As you can imagine, the shutdown is effecting federal employees and residents in Mississippi.

Several workers are furloughed from the McCoy Federal Building in downtown Jackson.

Essential staff is only being kept in offices like the IRS and the Social Security Administration.

Members of the Mississippi National Guard are now facing furloughs.

    A 10-year-old boy was shot in Laurel today. According to Laurel police chief Tyrone Stewart, the child is currently at the South Central Regional Medical Center.
