Healthcare apps help you decipher Obamacare

(RNN) – The effects of the Affordable Care Act, which goes into effect Tuesday, can be confusing. Luckily, there is - as they say - an app for that.

Several apps are available for cell phones and tablets that provide information about the healthcare law. Here is a look at a few of them.

Obamacare 101

App Name: Obamacare101

Developer: Vasco Kidd

Availability: iOS and Android

Cost: Free on Android, $0.99 on Apple

What it does: Provides up-to-date information and answers to FAQs about the Affordable Care Act and provides access to healthcare application forms, healthcare exchanges and cost calculators.

Do The Math

App Name: ObamaCare: Do The Math

Developer: D&N Associates

Availability: iOS and Android

Cost: Free

What it does: Calculates if you will need to pay an investment tax when you sell your home. By entering your information into the app, it uses the formula specified in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act to determine your tax, if you need to pay one.

App Name: Obamacare Forums

Availability: iOS and Android

Cost: Free

What it does: Allows mobile access to questions, discussions and polls on www.obamacareforums.com

What's the 411?

App Name: Obamacare411

Developer: Antonio Pinto

Availability: iOS

Cost: Free

What it does: Calculates costs for individuals and families

Health Choices

App Name: iHealthChoices

Developer: Happytainment Incorporated

Availability: iOS (Available in both English and Spanish)

Cost: Free

What it does: Explains the Affordable Care Act in easy-to-understand terms, gives personal results for the effects of the Affordable Care Act on individuals and small businesses.

Affordable Health

App Name: Affordable Heath

Developer: Inovius, Inc.

Availability: iOS and Android

Cost: Free

What it does: Provides access to a health insurance exchange calculator, calculates if individuals qualify for tax credits, allows insurance agents to send quotes, projects monthly insurance costs and benefits and has an interactive interface that allows users to compare changes in coverage.
