BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A local Catholic Church kicked off their annual fall festival on Saturday. Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Biloxi welcomed the community to get together and have a good time.
Balloons lined the wrought iron fence welcoming visitors into the church's festival. The fried fish and warm gumbo had visitor's coming back for more. Father Steve Wilson said one thing was especially good this year.
"I think the food's better. The food's always good, but for some reason it's particularly good this time. I don't know why, but it just is, and I think the cakes are better too," said Wilson.
Beautiful cakes were awaiting lucky winners of the cake walk contest. Behind the church were a variety of games set up for the children. Larry Kimbrough lives in Louisiana. He and his wife said they can't help but come for the good food and comradery.
"The food is fantastic and I get a chance to see people I haven't seen from one year to the next," said Kimbrough.
The church also had clothes and shoes for sale. The items were donated by church members and people within the community. All proceeds were for facility maintenance and community outreach projects.
