Governor Phil Bryant traded in his business suit for a helmet and a leather vest Saturday. Governor Bryant revved his Harley up with hundreds of motorcyclists for a trip to the Mississippi coast to help save lives.
Hundreds of men and women wasted no time hitting the road in style with Governor Bryant for a fun ride with a very serious cause; to fight breast cancer.
"With all the support here it meant a lot to us especially us survivors," said breast cancer survivor Trina Wilson.
Wilson is now cancer free and she stands firm with the riders in their mission to ride to save lives.
"Hopefully somebody might see it hear about this and decide to go get their examination," said Governor Bryant.
Governor Bryant's mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor. The Governor is urging women to get breast exams because they can help detect cancer. First Lady Deborah Bryant, also an honorary Chairman for Susan G. Komen said take the time to get tested. An early diagnosis could save your life.
"They need to do their mammograms yearly and early detection is so important to the survival of breast cancer," said Mrs. Bryant.
The riders rode into Gulfport Saturday afternoon where a special check presentation was made to the Mississippi Steel Magnolias affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The organization has raised close to $3 million for breast health awareness in Mississippi.
