Flowood widening Cooper Road

Posted: Updated:
FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The city of Flowood is making improvements to Cooper Road, which will include a traffic signal at the Lakeland drive intersection.  Traffic is down to one lane as turn lanes are widened.

That is resulting in longer than normal traffic delays in the area.  Some motorists were stuck for almost 10 minutes while awaiting a traffic signal to be erected.

Cooper road improvements will go all the way to where it connects with Luckney road.

Construction will be complete by the end of October.

Two other construction projects are slowing traffic down in other areas of Flowood.

Old Fannin road is undergoing a five lane widening project, and Flowood drive is also being made 5 lanes.  Construction companies are asking motorists to be aware of workers near the road.

Joe Ball, a Project Manager for T.L. Wallace Construction says, "They just need to be aware of the construction workers. The main thing they need to watch their speed. Be aware when you see guys out on the road, when you see signs you got flaggers just watch your speed. Be careful, be mindful, just everybody be safe."
