Second Round Action Of The State High Scool Soccer Playoffs On Tap

The Mercy Cross Crusaders travel to North Forrest. The Crusaders are coming off a tough 3-1 win over St. Joe's out of Jackson in a "3A-2A-1A" State playoff game. Paul Meneses, the Crusaders top gun says, "We have the team and we have discipline and I think that we can go all the way."
St. Stanislaus goes after a 3rd State title since 1996 on the road at West Jones. The Rockachaws polished off Terry Saturday in the 4A State Playoffs. Head Coach Andy Kivlan says, "We have peaked in January and I'm very happy the way they are playing at this point and time. Of course there's three more games to go and we must stay focused and every step of the way will become more difficult."
The Long Beach Bearcats defeated Hattiesburg 4-1 in the "5A" playoffs. The Bearcats take aim on Northwest Rankin on the road Tuesday night. Long Beach Coach Eddie Holmes says, "The defense I think has been the key to our success this year. Our defense has been solid piling up 9 shutouts. Daniel Ingram in the goal has done an excellent job."
4A girls the Bay High Lady Tigers meet George County in Lucedale tomorrow night. While Bay High beat Stone County 3-1.. George County popped Brookhaven 8-nothing
The Harrison Central Red Rebelettes also hit the highway on the road at Northwest Rankin in a 5A clash. The Red Rebelettes have been playing together for years.. in many cases.. since grammar school. Harrison Central Coach Karl Friedricks says, "I've had most of 'em since 7th grade and we have brought them along and they'll ready to compete and challenge now."
OLA destroyed Clarkdale 9-nothing and Mercy Cross blanked Forrest County 6-zip. The two clash in the "3A-2A-1A" State Semifinals 5:30 Wednesday at Biloxi's Yankie Stadium.
