OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Ocean Springs police confirm there was a school bus accident Wednesday on Government Street at the intersection of Knapp Road and Magnolia Bayou Road. This marks the third school bus accident this week in South Mississippi.

According to Ocean Springs Police Sgt. Al Parker, the accident happened around 7:53 a.m.

Officials said  a total of 41 students from Ocean Springs high school and middle school were on board. Parker said some of the students had minor injuries after the bus rear ended a pickup truck pulling a trailer.

"The way it looks the driver of the truck abruptly stopped and the driver of the bus made contact with the trailer," Parker explained.

The driver of the pickup truck pulling the trailer was ticketed for driving without a license and no insurance.

There was minor damage to both the bus and the trailer, Parker said.

There was traffic, however, the accident has been cleared.

Ocean Springs School District Superintendent Dr. Bonita Coleman-Potter confirmed another bus picked up the middle school and high school students to take them to school.
