BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A gruesome scene that would have sent many people into panic forced two Ocean Springs teenagers to jump into action Sunday night.
After 25-year-old Raymond Rollins was involved in a horrifying motorcycle accident, two teens ran to his rescue. Taylor Zaiontz and Chris Wright had just dropped off a friend around 11 o'clock Sunday night. As they pulled to a stop in front of the Golden Nugget, they saw an accident they will remember forever.
"We were looking across the bridge and we saw sparks flying and we saw two guys on a motorcycle. And the one on the left side, his bike just went up in flames. The man was on fire and running toward the median," said Zaiontz.
Together, the boys rushed to the victim's side. The injured man's friend was riding alongside him when he hit the guardrail. He was the first to put the flames out. The teens rushed over and Wright said he did what he could to keep him conscious.
"I sat down next to him and held him up, and kept him looking away from what was going on, on his leg and what not, and getting him to spell his name and count back from ten," said Wright.
They immediately stepped into action, but say they're no heroes.
"I'm not a hero. Just there at the right time, doing what was right," said Wright.
The teens said it seemed like the ordeal was all over within minutes. They said if they're ever faced with a similar situation, they won't hesitated to help again.
