The Mississippi Greek Weekend kicked off Thursday morning at the Tougaloo College Health and Fitness Center. Dozens of people woke up bright and early for day one of the "Run the Yard Boot Camp."

The high-energy, marching band inspired workout was just the start of the Mississippi Greek Weekend. Along with a focus on fitness, the four day Mississippi Greek Weekend is filled with fun activities and opportunities to give back to the community.

"We're focusing on fitness for the Mississippi Greek Weekend and raising awareness around diseases of the blood like sickle cell anemia and leukemia and lymphoma," said George Patterson, the Chairperson of the Mississippi Greek Weekend.

The "Run the Yard Boot Camp" is free and open to the community. If you're interested in participating head over to Tougaloo College Friday at 6:00 a.m.
