NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man who was free on parole for an aggravated robbery conviction is suspected of shooting a teen Wednesday night after an argument over a basketball game in the Hermitage area.

Lawrence Hampton, 25, is charged with attempted criminal homicide in the shooting after police say Hampton approached the teen in the 4400 block of Gina Brooke Drive and fired a shotgun.

The teen was shot in the hand, and Hampton then dropped the gun near a home before fleeing in a minivan, police said.

Police later stopped the minivan in the 5700 block of Old Hickory Boulevard, where Hampton was taken into custody.

The teen shooting victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

Two other teen victims reported being struck by shrapnel but refused medical attention, police said.

Hampton had been sentenced to eight years in prison for aggravated robbery, concurrent with a six-year sentence for robbery, in 2008.

His bond is now set at $350,000.
