FL grand jury doesn't indict Pearl firefighter's son

ORLANDO, FL (Mississippi News Now) - An Orange County, FL, grand jury will not indict the son of a Pearl firefighter charged with manslaughter in his father's death.

According to court records, the grand jury returned a "no true bill" on the charge Wednesday.

Taylor Harris was arrested in July and charged in the death of his father, Leonard "Dwayne" Harris of Pearl.

Leonard Harris died at the University of Mississippi Medical Center July 17 after being placed on life support in a Florida hospital and later airlifted to Jackson. Harris, 52, died of traumatic brain injury.

According to a police report from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Leonard Harris was injured in a fight with his son just after 9 p.m. on July 7. Taylor Harris was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery. The charge was later upgraded to manslaughter following Leonard Harris' death.
