YAZOO COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Authorities say three people were injured in a rollover accident on Interstate 55 in Yazoo County Tuesday afternoon.

Trooper First Class Eric Henry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the accident happened on I-55 southbound near the Vaughn exit around 5:30 p.m.

Henry says a rear tire on a green Chevrolet SUV blew out and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The SUV overturned several times and flipped over the cable lock system in the median. The vehicle landed in the northbound lane of I-55.

The driver of the vehicle, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected. The front passenger, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was completely ejected from the vehicle.

A passenger in the back seat was injured but not ejected.

Henry said all of the occupants were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
