JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Habitual offender Robert Bufford will spend the rest of his life in prison. The Jackson man shot Davie Miller multiple times back in July 2011. Miller died almost a month later.

Soon after being shot, Miller told officers Bufford accused him of disrespect because Miller hugged him in a nightclub and knocked his hat off his head. Bufford ordered Miller to pick up the hat and put it back on Bufford's head and Miller refused.

Bufford, 25, was also given 10 years for being a felon in possession of a gun.

During his sentencing in Hinds County Circuit Judge Jeff Weill's courtroom, the victim's mother took the stand and asked Judge Weill to give Bufford the maximum sentence.
