BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

In less than three weeks, cars will be rolling into town for Cruisin' the Coast, but one very special part of the event will be absent from the line-up. The Biloxi VA Medical Center will not be a site for the event this year.

Veteran's Health Care System Director Anthony Dawson released a statement Monday saying because of a complicated road work project underway, hosting the event would be a safety hazard for all involved.

However, Dawson said the VA plans to reconvene their Cruisin' the Coast involvement in 2014.

There will still be a event for veterans on this year's Cruisin' schedule. The Hookup Bar & Restaurant and the Biloxi Boardwalk Marina will host a "Salute the Veterans" featuring Gary Wesley as Elvis. That event will be Tuesday, October 8 from 10am until 2pm at the restaurant on East 8th Street.
