VANCLEAVE, MS (WLOX) - Muscadine season is about to wrap up. Boggy Creek Vineyard owner Jack Hoover said this year he estimates a few thousand people came out to pick muscadines at his vineyard during the two to three week muscadine season, which begins in late August.
He said the heavy rains over the summer delayed the ripening of the grapes. Because of that he said he considered opening later.
"This year a lot of people are freezing the grapes and packing them into their lunch boxes for work," Hoover said.
The vineyards last day open for this season will be Saturday, September 21 from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Boggy Creek Vineyard is located at 11300 Paige Bayou Road in Vancleave.
