Suspect in custody following early morning armed robbery

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A suspect is in custody in Connecticut following an armed robbery in West Springfield on Friday morning.

Police tell CBS 3 that around 4 a.m. a suspect came to the Hampton Inn in West Springfield and demanded the money in the cash register from the clerk.

Police say the suspect showed the clerk a handgun and the money was handed over.

The suspect asked the victim to follow him to the back parking lot where he left.

No injuries were reported.

Later in the morning the suspect was apprehended in Windsor Locks, CT. Two handguns were recovered.

The clerk from West Springfield did positively identify the suspect. There were two other people in the car at the time of the stop who were apprehended as well.

Police in Cromwell, CT, are looking into whether the suspect is involved in a robbery that took place at the Quality Inn around 1 a.m. Friday.

There were also two armed robberies at hotels in East Windsor Tuesday morning that police are looking into as well.
