When you peer out across into the Mississippi Sound or the waters of Biloxi Back Bay or walk along our coastal beaches, you realize what treasures we have for those of us who live here and for those who come here to visit. It's also sad to see all the trash people leave behind.
What can we do about it? We can get it cleaned up. You can be a part of the 25th Annual Mississippi Coastal Cleanup.
Last year 25 hundred volunteers collected more than 27 tons of trash. There's plenty of work to do again this year. 70 sites in Harrison Hancock and Jackson Counties including the barrier islands will be the target of the October 19th cleanup. We urge groups to register by October 7th.
If you can't help with the clean up, you can help in another way by not being a contributor to the problem. As you enjoy our beaches and water ways please don't leave your garbage behind.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org.
