Weekend Whereabouts: Sept. 13-15

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Take a musical journey during the annual three day Mississippi Songwriters festival. Songwriters from Mississippi and Tennessee will be performing at various locations in downtown Ocean Springs. Some of the better known songwriters include Danny Myrick whose written songs for Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean. Then there's Brett Jones who's written for major names like Billy Currington and Ronnie Millsaps. And if you every wanted to know the ins and outs of songwriting, there will be a workshop, including one on how to produce great sound. Christian Care Ministry invites you to help the needy. On Friday, they are holding a non-perishable food drive at Pearl River Central's Hendrix Stadium in Carriere during the Picayune vs. Pearl River Central football game. Drop off locations will be at each of the stadium's gates and food will be collected starting at 7 p.m.

An extravaganza of South Mississippi's best seafood, crab, shrimp, gumbo, oysters, as well as an array of other dishes will be offered at the annual Biloxi Seafood festival Saturday and Sunday. It's outdoors at the Biloxi town Green. From a bungee obstacle, inflatable slides to the Molly Ringwalds and other entertainers, there's no stopping the fun at this event. Masonic Lodge Classic Car and Bike Show

More than 100 old model cars, trucks and bikes will be on display on Main Street in Bay St. Louis this Saturday. The event includes food, music, and raffles. All proceeds benefit the Shriner's Hospital for Kids.
