(WMC-TV) - A North Mississippi school is without a principal after the state took away his teaching license following shocking claims from teachers.

The Action News 5 investigators have uncovered the allegations behind a former middle school principal's firing. He is accused of using his cell phone to record inappropriate video of both students and teachers. Now he will not be teaching for at least five years.

For almost six months the Action News 5 Investigators, and parents like Emily Turner, dug for the truth behind the firing of Alcorn Central Middle School principal Dan Burcham.

"We didn't get any answers, and I pursued and took my children out of the school and into a different school system," said Turner.

Recent results from a district investigation allege Burcham harassed female students and employees and recorded inappropriate video of students and teachers. The state department of education revoked Burcham's teaching license until 2018 based on the investigation.

"What they're coming forth with at this time is information that is even more alarming than not knowing," said Turner.

Alcorn School board attorney Jimmy Price said around $6,000 in petty cash turned up missing under Burcham's watch, which was another reason for his firing. Price said the state auditor is investigating to see if charges will be filed.

Superintendent Gina Rogers Smith told Action News 5 there was no nudity in the inappropriate images. She said the district attorney did not have sufficient evidence to prosecute Burcham, but the state felt his behavior was unethical.

Burcham has 10 days to appeal the state's decision. Action News 5 reached out to his attorney but we have not heard back. Read a full statement from the school here.
