RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police Department officials confirm the JPD officer arrested in Ridgeland Tuesday morning has resigned.

Officer Colendula Green with JPD first said Marcus Johnson was fired but later said he resigned.

Ridgeland Chief of Police Jimmy Houston said 22-year-old Johnson is charged with careless driving, speeding, expired tag and no proof of insurance.

Ridgeland police say Johnson also has a fine for shoplifting from JC Penney in 2009.
