Temporary hold put on demolition plans for old Gulfport library

Posted: Updated:
GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Twenty four hours after voting to proceed with demolition of the old Gulfport library, Harrison County supervisors voted Tuesday on a motion that gives the City of Gulfport some hope of saving that landmark.

Supervisors agreed to send a proposed lease agreement between the city and county to the Attorney General for review. That move puts at least a temporary hold on the demolition plans.

The proposed lease includes an indemnity clause that the City of Gulfport would be responsible for any lost revenue the county might incur with the transfer of that building.
