HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

John Earl Rogers and Johnny Lee Smith have pleaded guilty in a non-fatal stabbing that occurred at the Hinds County Detention Center in 2012.

Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith says the two pleaded guilty to the aggravated assault of fellow inmate Senard Kelly.

Hinds County Circuit Judge William Gowan sentenced the pair to 10 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. They'll serve five years of the sentence in prison with five years suspended and three years post-release supervision.

Johnny Lee Smith still faces a charge of felony assault on a law enforcement officer stemming from a separate incident in which he's accused of fracturing a detention officer's nose.
