911 Memorial Run to benefit community

Posted: Updated:
RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Just days before the 12th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks metro first responders are running in remembrance to make a difference.

Firefighters wore full gear in the hot sun for a half marathon at Lakeshore Park.

Police officers and residents also laced up for the annual event. More than 250 people registered to run.

There was live music and plenty of cool refreshments.

The purpose is to remember those who lost their lives during the terrorist attack and those who keep us safe today.

Proceeds will go to the Reservoir Fire Department and the JMS Burn Center in Brandon.
