Head coach Adam Stone, a Stone High graduate, has a smile on his face these days...brought on by a division move. His Tomcats jumped into the Region 4-5A ranks, this season... competing with the likes of East Central, Gautier, Picayune George County, Long Beach, West Harrison and Pascagoula.
Stone had been a member of Region 3-5A.
Stone said,"It's great. First of all, it's rivalries and people that we've always played here and our travel is cut down and its makes for a better atmosphere when another team that you're playing brings a lot of people to the games at home for us."
Coach Stone says defense has been the name of the game.
"Our safety Caleb Amacker is playing really well. Marquez Edwards had a great night Friday night against Vancleave and Justin Smith has played well for us on defense."
Justin Smith said,"This year it seems like everybody wants to win. We're going to the ball a lot faster than we usually do. We're making plays on pass plays and forcing turnovers."
Defensive tackle Khalil Washington added,"We worked hard all summer and got better in the spring and I think we can go all the way."@
Senior quarterback Clayton Johnson runs the Tomcats offense. He's completed 20 of 44 attempts for 257 yards and three touchdowns.
Johnson said,"I just go through my progressions and making better reads.
Tight end Royce Hagel, a 5-11, 235 pound senior has good size and good hands and is expected to become a major factor in the passing game
