Memorial Hospital in Gulfport is working on some expansion plans that will create dozens of new jobs at the hospital. Memorial CEO Gary Marchand shared those plans with Harrison County supervisors Tuesday.
The hospital is expanding services in several areas, including neuro-surgery. A brain surgeon from Tulane Medical Center is relocating his practice to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.
"We're restructuring some other services: physical medicine, hyperbaric oxygen wound care, some mental health services in that re-structure," Marchand explained. "Overall, we're going to add 81 jobs over our 2013 budget."
Marchand told supervisors that charges to customers will increase slightly more than one percent, to cover the cost of the expanded services.
