RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Darius Rucker live concert was a night of music and fun.

Two of the performers are up and coming singers from Mississippi. We caught up with them to ask about their careers and what it's like to be on stage in their hometown.

Standing on the stage in front of the CSpire building in front of thousands of fans is like a homecoming for Liz Davis. The Madison native has completed her stint on the NBC show "The Voice" and is out on her own.

"It's the first time that I've performed a show here since "The Voice". So, to see everybody come out and support and also for the Darius show, which was a huge honor to even be asked. It's the coolest first show," Davis said.

Davis isn't happy unless she's performing. Now, she's traveling the country getting her name and voice out to fans from the show and in the country music industry.

"When you go from a reality show that's catered to you and your needs and then when it's finished you're on your own. So, it's up to you to keep up the momentum," Davis added.

She's based in Nashville, but says her roots in the Magnolia State help her writing. And home is where Davis believes her career will launch.

"Booking a whole bunch of shows that happen to be in Mississippi, but that's where I want to start because this is where I'm from. And if I can get Mississippi behind me and be that support system that I need that's all that's gonna make me happy," Davis explained.

More than 4,000 people also watched Meridian native Cheryl LuQuire.

She'll have an EP out on iTunes this month, is working on a video series, and her song writing.

"Back in Mississippi is like coming home. So, it's the comfort of knowing these are my people. There's always a lot of love and a lot of pride when you come back to your home state, and everybody is so full of support," LuQuire said.

The concert is the first CSpire has managed.

The company started in Mississippi and wanted to give back to the community that has supported it for 25 years.

"We also wanted to match up some other artists and picking a couple of Mississippi based artists was really important. We've got a couple that have had some success living in Nashville now, but bring them back home and let them perform for the hometown," said Jim Richmond, CSpirre VP for Corporate Communications.

In addition to Rucker, Davis, and LuQuire, Russell Dickerson and the Swon Brothers also performed. The Swon Brothers were contestants on NBC's "The Voice" last season.
