RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi Highway Patrol has released the identity of the woman killed in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler in Rankin County Friday morning.

Trooper First Class Eric Henry says Betty Ellington, 60, was killed in the crash on Highway 468 near Bethel Road around  8:40 a.m. Friday.

Henry said Ellington was traveling west on Highway 468 when her van apparently drifted into the wrong lane and collided head-on with an 18-wheeler that was traveling east. Ellington was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drive of the 18-wheeler, 52-year-old Lewis Campbell, wasn't injured.

That section of Highway 468 was closed for much of the morning while the scene was cleared.
