SAN LUIS, AZ (CBS5) -

Federal officers foiled an alleged attempt by a Somerton woman to smuggle hard drugs near the Arizona border.

Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of San Luis arrested the woman Sunday after they allegedly found nearly 47 pounds of methamphetamine and more than three pounds of heroin in packages in her vehicle's gas tank.

The meth is valued at almost $723,000 and the heroin is worth an estimated $42,000.

Nancy Fidelina Meraz, 39, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

The drugs and vehicle were seized.
